We have been thinking outside of the box to try and continue our fundraising efforts for the school while we are unable to host Movie munch nights, Discos and the Fayres and have found an exciting new event - a VIRTUAL BALLOON RACE :)

The link takes you to a page to create an account - this allows you to customise your balloon and track its progress

Why not race your balloon against friends from your class or have a family competition to see whos balloon can travel the furthest.

How it works

You set up your account, purchase your balloon and then via your dashboard you can customise the shape, colour, name, even the rubber thickness and the amount of helium inside your racing balloon.

Launch

The virtual race starts at 12 noon on 8th August from Timbuktu in the Sahara Desert and lasts for 7 days.

Balloons are subject to a simulated flight pattern based on your balloons individual flight parameters plus the real weather conditions at that time such as the prevailing wind speed and temperature. This simulation uses an advanced computer modeling programme linked to Google maps and Aeris, a commercial global weather data supplier.

Tracking

To locate and track your balloon, sign in and go to your dashboard. On the left under recently supported you will see the cause you have chosen. Click the yellow 'view/decorate/track' button to display your balloons. When you click on them individually you will see their location on Google maps. The top 100 balloons are listed when you press the 'race leaders' button.
