Join us for a lively evening of entertainment and a fun way to raise funds for CKIS, bringing all the excitement of an evening’s horse racing – but without the risk – to the school hall. Last year’s event raised over £1,000 for the school.

Tickets cost £12 per person. Don’t delay! Only 60 tickets are available and last year’s event was a sell-out.

Is food and drink included in the ticket price?

• Yes. There’ll be a delicious hog roast with salads and all the trimmings and an alternative for veggies and vegans. Alcoholic drinks and bar snacks can be bought from a licenced bar which takes cash or card.

What can I expect on the night?

• The evening will be run by two comperes, two ‘bookies’ and a number of ‘runners’ from the PFA team who’ll also provide a table service.
• At the start of the evening, each team will be given £2,000 of token money, several betting slips and a race card that lists details of the horses and jockeys taking part in each race.
• In the build up to each race, teams bet on horses and hand their betting slips to runners who take them to the ‘tote’. When all bets have been made, the pre-recorded race gets underway on a big screen accompanied by lots of shouting and cheering. After each race, the bookies pay out any winnings.

But I don’t like gambling…

• It’s more like a lottery than real betting – a game of chance rather than a game of skill.

…and I don’t know a thing about horse racing

• Don’t worry! It’s designed to be simple and fun so everyone can join in. There’ll be guide sheets and the PFA team will be on hand to answer questions.

Are there prizes for winning teams?

• Yes, the three teams who win the most tokens after all eight races will win a prize.

Who selects the teams?

• Enter as a team, part-team or leave it to the organisers to put you in one. The event’s a great way to get to know more parents and carers from CKIS, so don’t worry if you’re not part of a team when you buy your ticket(s).
