Congratulations to Alison and Dan Atkins the winners of the silent auction.
Huge congratulations to Alison and Dan Atkins the winners of the silent auction. Alison owns Daisies in Bloom and was one of the vendors at our Winter Fair, she placed the highest bid on the silent auction for the balloon ride for 2 and was thrilled to have won: "Thank you Lynn we loved it we will be looking forward to the next one - so pleased I was able to place a bid on this.. if you havent done it - you really need to!"
They drove to Bewl Water and had an experience of a life-time. Perfect weather and stunning views of the Kent countryside. All proceeds of her bid were used to benefit the Science Department our main project this year. In total we raised £10,500 at the Winter Fair all of which helped by new furniture for the Science labs.

Many companies in the UK offer employees the chance to boost their fundraising by 'matching' the money they raise. It really is money for nothing, and TGS PTA could double the amount it raises with very little effort. Want to know how? Read on...
Match giving or match funding is a simple way of maximising the fundraising efforts of your individual PTA volunteers. It is an informal albeit corporate arrangement between a company and their employee. Not all companies offer matched funding but those that do will pledge a sum of money relating to the amount their employee has raised for or donated to the charity of their choice. Some organisations will match fund on a £ for £ basis, others will stipulate what they are prepared to give. It is likely that an upper limit will be applied along with certain criteria such as the recipient organisation being a registered charity. Some companies will also pledge time and resources instead of money, so enabling their employees to support a cause during their working week, or offering a tangible service such as the opportunity to print posters, programmes, newsletters and so on.
Unfortunately, while we'd love to be able to provide a comprehensive list of companies offering match funding, it is fraught with too many issues - some companies have certain criteria in their small print (i.e. where it's only offered to full-time staff after two years service), or the schemes change too often for us to be able to keep any such list up to date. Generally speaking, banks and building societies, insurance companies, supermarkets, utilities providers, phone companies and car manufacturers are known historically to offer match funding schemes.
Here are just some companies that we know who operate match-funding schemes:
Aviva, Bank of America, Barclays Bank, Benfield Group, BP, British Telecom, British Gas, Camelot, Costcutte, Co-op, Daryl Industries, Deloitte, Diageo, Ernst and Young, Experian, HSBC, Ipsos, Mori, JP Morgan, Chase, Kingfisher PLC, Legal and General, Lloyds TSB / HBOS, Microsoft, Northern Rock, 02, PwC, RBS Group, Royal Dutch, Shell, RW,E nPower, Santander, Schroders, Sky, Tarmac, Tesco, Texaco, UBS, Unilever, Yorkshire Bank & Whitbread
If you are currently employed by one of these organsisations or another company that is not listed we would like to hear from you:
