FSK are looking to raise money for the school by encouraging children and their families to participate in FSK’s sponsored fitness fundraiser. As a total school community, we are aiming to travel the 5,600 miles it is from St Katharine’s Primary School to the capital city of Uganda, Kampala, through being active. From the 1st May to the 7th June you will need to walk/ run/ scooter/ cycle as many miles as you can either individually or as a family. At the end of the sponsored challenge FSK will add up everyone’s distances with the hope that we have reached the 5,600 mile target. We are hoping each family can raise as much money as possible in sponsorship which will be used to purchase additional outdoor PE resources for the school.
What activities can we do and how are they recorded?
We want to encourage people to be active outside of their everyday routine, so you can walk, run, scooter or bike ride and record your activities on the FSK Activity Record Form which will be emailed to you once you have paid your entry fee.
Miles covered for each activity can either be completed as a family or individually, for example:
a parent running on their own for 3 miles = 1 activity/ 3 miles,
a family of 4 going for a 3 mile walk = 1 activity/ 12 miles .
For each activity you must record the distance travelled in miles and add it to your activity record form. If you record your distance in steps: 2000 steps = 1 mile.
Unfortunately we will be unable to keep a running total of mileage covered throughout the month. We will only know if we have successfully completed the 5,600 miles after we have received completed activity record forms which will need to be received by the 11th June and posted through the parents letter box at school.
How much is it to enter?
It is £5 for each family to enter and you can enter via www.fskcharity.co.uk . You will be required to input the number of adults and children taking part and by signing up to enter you are agreeing that you will take full responsibility for the health and safety of your family throughout this fundraiser (including adhering to current social distancing measures).
Once you have entered you will receive your activity record form on email which you can print out at home. As a family you will be required to keep your activity record form up to date and send back your completed form by the 11th of June so all distances can be recorded and a grand total mileage calculated.
