All are welcome to join us at our AGM on Wednesday 2 October. It will start at 7.30pm in the school/community hall.

This is a chance for the committee to report back to you about what we’ve achieved over the past year, and our plans for the future. It includes a vote on nominees for Chair, Treasurer and Secretary, as well as general committee members. As part of the school community, you are all members of Friends of Longparish School. Everyone that attends the AGM gets a vote on who makes up the committee.

We need you! This year, Jo is stepping down as Chair, and Beccy as Treasurer. Can you help fill these roles? We also welcome new general committee members. We are particularly keen to have a representative from the current Robins class on the committee – could it be you?

Jo is happy to chat about what is involved – email chairfols@gmail.com

LONGPARISH RUN POSTPONED
LONGPARISH RUN POSTPONED

Article published by:

It is with deep regret that we have made the decision to postpone this months Longparish Run until later in the year.

The unprecedented amount of rain during the last few months has left much of the village with extremely high ground water levels.  Whilst we have worked hard to revise the route, and been through many and varied options for parking, sadly we have been unable to access sufficient parking areas to facilitate the event safely.

We are currently looking at dates later in the year and will let you know the revised date as soon as possible.

For those that have already registered for the event, if (once announced) you are unable to attend on the new date, we will of course issue a full refund.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and would ask that you bear with us whilst we make alternative arrangements.

Thank you
Friends of Longparish School

The Longparish Lookout Project
The Longparish Lookout Project

Article published by:

Can you help with our fundraising for a new trim trail and outdoor classroom space at Longparish CE Primary School?

Our design aims to be magical and exciting for the children, and to merge into the glorious countryside around us. The Lookout Classroom will allow children to spot animals that live by, on and in the River Test. Perhaps they will spot the kingfisher that lives on this stretch of the river. We think there is an otter too! We will use the Lookout Classroom all year round.

About the Lookout Classroom:

The bespoke design will be unique to our school. The intention is to create a soft and natural-looking structure that will sit well in our beautiful countryside setting.

It will use natural cedar and sweet chestnut timber materials, softened further by low-maintenance sensory planting and twisted timber pergola. Once established, the planting will attract birds and insects. The planting will have the effect of creating a magical surround to the structure that children will pass through on their way to the lookout platform, blending it into the river landscape beyond.

The trim trail will be similarly made. Austere fencing will be replaced by softer woven panels.

Why are we building this?

Our existing Trim Trail is over fifteen years old. Parts of it are damaged and cannot be used. We will combine this refurbishment with a brand-new Lookout Classroom.

Outdoor learning improves child development, supports mental health and wellbeing, deepens connections with nature and promotes more inclusive and engaging learning.

The project will enhance and enrich learning opportunities for all our children, and will help to sustain the capacity of the village school in the years to come.

How to support our project:

We welcome support from individuals and local businesses. If you would like to donate to our fundraising appeal, you can:

  • Donate online at our Go Fund Me page.
  • Send a cheque (payable to Friends of Longparish School) to FoLS c/o Longparish Primary School, Longparish, SP11 6PB
  • Or contact Jo Allam, Chair of Friends of Longparish School, at chairfols@gmail.com

We will be running fundraising events over the next year to support the project. Details will appear on our website and Facebook page.

You can make a difference by donating today to Friends of Longparish School. Thank you.
