FOBG Summer Fair

 18/05/2019 (Sat)  12:00 - 15:00
Further Information

The Friends of Bishop Gilpin are delighted to announce the date & theme of this year's Summer Fair - 'Beside The Seaside' Saturday 18th May (12pm - 3pm).

Always a fun day, this year you can expect a bouncy castle, go-karts, raffle & hampers, traditional games, bottle & chocolate tombola, face painting, craft stall, Robert & Edwards BBQ, ice creams and LOTS more!

In addition, this year we are very excited to announce we will be running three x30 minute 'Mad Science' shows, (please buy your tickets online) to take place at 12.30pm, 1.15pm & 2.00pm on the day.

Here's what you can expect from the shows: Spectacular science shows bring kids and science together in an unforgettable event! Mad Science special events are spectacular science-themed shows designed to amaze and entertain audiences. Children learn about science when they see foggy dry ice storms, float on a Mad Science hovercraft, watch a foam factory at work, discover Bernoulli's principle, make magic mud, alter sound waves, and so much more! Shows are suitable for all ages and all children must be accompanied by a ticket holding adult.

We will have a mufti day on Friday 17th May, the day before the fair, with children coming to school in home clothes, in exchange for bringing in a 'stick of rock' (using a kitchen roll, filled with treats, wrapped & sealed, designed in candy stripe colours, or however they would like!). These will then be sold by the teachers at the fair the following day.

Fundraising

Every year, we aim to raise upwards of £30k, which goes towards providing facilities and equipment to advance the education of all children at the school. How this is spent each year will vary, however typically the FOBG will allocate circa £12k to the library; plus £2k to support workshops for the children and a further £2,500 for art resources.

Other funding will vary. The school will put forward funding requests, which are voted on by the committee. In the past funding has been allocated to items such as the music pod, front of school redesign, playground refurbishments and equipment.

Want to know more? Have some fundraising ideas? Come and join us at our next committee meeting!
