We are hosting a disco for the children in Reception on 17th May 2024 between 5pm and 6pm. We are also a bit desperate for help in order to run this because we need to have the right number of adults to children. If you are marvellous and can lend a hand, please sign up here: https://volunteersignup.org/LXJ3M and we'll be in touch! Thank you ever so much!!
Tickets
Tickets cost £6, and with their ticket your child will receive a fruit drink, unlimited amounts of water, a savoury snack, glow-wear, and a little treat bag of sweets to take home. We won't be selling any other snacks or drinks at the disco as we don't want the children to have to worry about handling money or keeping it safe (so they can just have a lovely time)!
Tickets are available to buy via this web page, please have proof purchase with you by either printing your ticket or having it available to view on your mobile phone so the person on the door can check your child in. If you don't receive your ticket after it has been purchased via email, please check your 'spam' or 'promotions' folders as they sometimes end up in there!
Getting to and collecting from the Disco
Entry and collection on the evening will be through the doors to the Upper Juniors opposite the bike sheds (near the main entrance to school).
Allergies:
As they are little ones and we can't expect them to keep tabs on their drinks and snacks all evening, we will put a name label on these so they can identify their own. This will help keep our children with allergies safe from cross contamination, and no one likes losing their goodies!
Please give details of anything that your child is unable to eat or has an allergy to when buying a ticket so that we can cater for all of those attending.
Medication and parent/carer support
If your child will need to bring medication such as an EpiPen, insulin or an inhaler to the event, please make sure these are clearly named. We will of course have a qualified First Aider on standby at the disco, but as we're all parent helpers, we sadly can't administer any medication to children if needed. If there is a possibility your child might require their medication (and can't give it to themselves) at the event, please do come along with them so they (and you!) can join in the fun!
The invitation to attend the Reception Disco is also extended to parents and carers of children who might feel anxious or need support at this event. We want everyone to have great fun! If you would like to attend the Reception Disco with your child please drop us an email at bcptafundraising@gmail.com so that we know you're coming!
Our 'Quiet Area'
It might be the first time that your child has attended an event like this on their own, and we know (as mums and dads ourselves) some children can also find the music and lights a bit overwhelming after a while. We therefore will have a quiet area available to everyone throughout the event with books, colouring, drawing and puzzles should they need a bit of time out, manned by lovely helpers who will give anyone needing a bit of extra support just that!
Mobile Phones
For safeguarding reasons we ask that mobile phones are not used at PTA events where children are present but might not have a parent/guardian with them. We also ask that children do not bring their own mobile phones to discos for the same reason, and also that these may become lost or damaged. Mobile phones will only be used at discos to call for help in the event of an emergency, to play music at a disco, or to contact a parent if a child needs to be collected early.
Song Selection
We are creating our own playlist for this disco, and so if there is a song that your child(ren) particularly love to bop away to (and is available on Spotify), there is an option to let us know during the ticket purchasing process.

The money Birch Copse PTA raises (in partnership with the school community) goes towards plugging the gaps in wider education funding. This means the school relies on the PTA to help maintain the standard of education, facilities and equipment that all of the children at Birch Copse benefit from and enjoy.
There are currently no tasks to volunteer for
Birch Copse PTA exists to serve our community by enhancing the 'school experience' of our children and their families, and by fundraising in order to maintain and improve the support and facilties enjoyed by all of its pupils.
