THE PTA TEAM

THE PTA TEAM

Liz Frain- Co-chair

I'm Liz and this is my 7th year as a parent at Penwortham School. I have two boys at the school, Nate in year 2 and Jacob in year 6. I previously worked for a large corporate bank for over 10 years before moving into event management. I love events and have produced many large corporate ones. I found my strengths during this time were mainly chasing ex premiership footballers for selfies and dates ;)

I'm partner to James, and love to chat, laugh, write and hang out with friends. I box twice a week to ensure my mental health is intact!

I've been a member of the PTA Committee since 2020 when I took the role of co-chair. It's been great to be a part of this PTA and to watch it flourish from the restrictive Covid days to what it has become today. The best thing about it for me is seeing the community come together at our events, from spooky trailing to bake sales and quizzing parents and carers showing up to support. It's all for such a great cause.

Sarah Byron-Evans - Co-chair

Hi, I'm Sarah. I have 3 children aged 7, 5 and 2, the elder two being at Penwortham in year 3 and 1. I'm married to Sam and we have lived in Furzedown for nearly 8 years. I am a Chartered Surveyor and work part time. I enjoy fitness, cooking (read eating and a glass of wine!) and spending time in north Wales with my family.

I started getting involved with the PTA by helping at bake sales and the wreath making event when my eldest was in nursery and now, here I am! It's a great way to get to know the school, and be part of something so much bigger than ourselves. We have the opportunity to make such a difference and that's why I do it.

Katie Francesca: Co-Chair & Comms Co-ordinator

I'm Katie, one of the PTA chairs on the committee. I'm married to Alex, and we have two daughters at Penwortham. I run my own Pilates & Wellbeing business in the local area including teaching the kids and parents at the school.

I love to draw, dance, spend time with friends and of course Pilates!

I joined the PTA after randomly calling one of the chairs asking if I can help! I love using my creative skills to support all the exciting events we deliver for the kids, teachers, and parents/carers at the school. I look forward to another year of bringing the school community together.

Rachael Aldrin-Quaye - Sponsorship, Raffle & Fair Co-ordinator

I'm Rachael. I live with my partner and 2 kids, a daughter who's 4 and at Penwortham, and a son who's 2. As a family we love to swim together at the weekends.

I am a childminder and work part time at Little Village.

Amanda Harris - Treasurer

I'm Amanda. I'm a parent of two girls, one in year 4 and another in year 2, who both started in the nursery. I enjoy cycling, swimming and being active in the outdoors with the girls.

I'm a Chartered Accountant with Moore Kingston Smith within the Charities and Education team. I like how being involved in the PTA is something that I can do with my skills to support the school. I think the PTA does a fantastic job raising money for all the children to benefit from -- enabling some of the co-curricular activities and supporting the school however they can.

Sally Webster - Web Co-ordinator

I'm Sally, mum to two boys - Eddie who's in Year 4 and Ralph who's in Reception. I'm a certified Life Coach supporting women to achieve their health and wellness goals. I've lived in Furzedown for the past 6 years and love cooking, working out, and the annual PTA Christmas wreath-making evening;)

I love being involved in the PTA in the small way that I am - it feels good to be a part of the community and make a positive contribution towards something.

Trechia Folarin - Engagement Rep

I have 20 years of media experience gained from the BBC scheduling programmes, coordinating promotions and working in the News gathering department. In addition, I spent several years supporting my union representatives as we strived to raise awareness of equal opportunities, inclusion and diversity. My husband and I have two children and my first born has been in Penwortham since 2017.

My husband, who works in the medical field, and I care passionately about children's mental health and special needs and have demonstrated this by raising awareness in terms of fundraising within the school. In addition, I have spent the last five years volunteering in various PTA events supporting the school's endeavours to raise the profile of community spirit. My interests include travel, pilates, creative and cultural arts and dance.

Nadia Bedeau - Teacher Representative

As the teacher representative on the PTA, my role is to attend weekly meetings and contribute to decisions on fund-raising events. I ensure that staff are up-to-date with all key events and support with planning of certain events such as the Winter fair, Summer fair and school disco.

Being part of the wider school environment has enabled me to develop excellent relationships with the local community. And I enjoy making a difference!

Clair Varrow - School Rep

I'm Clair, and I work in the school office. I help out wherever I can and assist Ms Bedeau with events in school.

The PTA are amazing at coming up with new ideas and ways to help the school. I enjoy seeing how happy the children are and how much they enjoy the events that the PTA run.

Hannah Calver - Second Hand Uniform Co-ordinator

I'm Hannah, an HR and Operations consultant. I have two girls at Penwortham, in Year 2 and Reception. I'm married to Bruno and love swimming, singing, riding, running, the theatre, and the environment.

I joined the PTA because my daughter lost her coat and when I went to look in the lost property for it I found a huge pile of unclaimed clothes. I took on the mission of washing and sorting them all out so that they could be recycled, and so that we can provide good quality clothes to the families of the school, whilst raising funds to make the school even better!

Nil Zaman - Class Rep & Bake Sale Co-ordinator

Hi I'm Nilufar also known as Nil! I'm mum to Caspian year 5 at Penwortham and Lina year 10 at Graveney!
As a former Penwortham and Graveney student myself it's an honour to be back helping with the school PTA! For my son and daughter both to be attending my old school's makes me a very proud parent indeed! Feel free to have a chat with me anytime and I look forward to meeting you all!
